Dave Wiebenga was born in Raytown, Missouri, and began his soccer career at Raytown Soccer Club.  He was a standout goalkeeper at Raytown South High School earning numerous accolades from 1993-1996, and he led the Cardinals to a Conference title in 1996.  After graduation, Wiebenga signed with UMKC.  He was red-shirted in 1997 and transfered to Truman State in the fall of 1998.  While at Truman State, Wiebenga was named MIAA 1st Team All-Conference in 1998, and helped the Bulldogs to a berth in the NCAA Division II National Tournament.  In 1999, Wiebenga ranked 21st in the nation in GAA (0.90).  During his senior year, Wiebenga broke the single season record for consecutive shutouts (6).  Following graduation from Truman, Wiebenga signed a free agent contract with the Arizona Sahuaros of the USL Pro Select League.  During his rookie season, he helped the Sahuaros to a berth in the post season, but suffered a hand injury that left him sidelined for the playoffs.  In fall of 2002, he returned to his alma mater as a graduate assistant at Truman State.  In the spring of 2003, Wiebenga headed north of the border and signed a contract with the Calgary Storm of the USL Division I.  While in Canada, he started 22 matches and was second in the league with 110 saves.  In 2004, he spent a brief time with the Virginia Beach Mariners and Milwaukee Wave before leaving professional soccer for a career in education and coaching.  

In 2004, Dave was hired at Lee's Summit High School to teach history and coach soccer.  After a year as the varsity assistant coach, he was promoted to the head coach in 2005.  Since taking over the helm, he has lead the Tigers to 7 District titles, 7 Conference titles, and 1 State Championship.  In 2014, Dave lead the Tigers to the Missouri Class 4 State Championship.  It is the first state title for the soccer program.  Dave also earned MO Class 4 Coach of the Year, NFHS Missouri Men's Soccer Coach of the Year, and NSCAA Central Region Coach of the Year.

Furthermore, in 2006 he became the head coach of the women's program too.  He has lead the Lady Tigers to 5 District titles, 5 Conference titles, and a birth in the Missouri Class 4 Final Four in 2015 and a 3rd Place finish in 2016.  Dave was also named MO Class 4 Coach of the Year in 2016.

Dave is also a member of the United Soccer Coaches National Goalkeeping Staff, and also holds a NSCAA Advanced National Diploma which he earned in 2009.

In 2006, he married his wife, Nikole.  They have three children; Ashlyn, Jordon, and Maelyn.
